Dongle Error code 028, what does it mean?

Dongle Error code 028 is displayed when the software cannot locate a dongle on a computer.

This error can also be generated if there is a problem accessing the dongle.

Resolution:

First check to make sure the dongle is plugged in.

If the dongle is plugged in and it is not lit proceed as follows:

  1. Remove the dongle
  2. Re-insert the dongle in to either the same or an alternate USB port. If it does not light up proceed to step 3 below.
  3. Upon inserting the dongle windows should display a message that tells you it has found new hardware. You should follow the prompts allowing windows to locate and install the correct drivers.
  4. If step 3 above was required, the dongle should now light up

If the software still does not run after following the above options, it could be that you are using an older dongle from a previous system you have. This is common practice whereby upon upgrading a package you will have your existing dongle updated. If this is the case, please follow these instructions:

  1. Click on the following link in your computers start menu:
Start/All Programs/ComfortableSoftware.com/(Name of your product)/Dongle Tools (or shortcuts)/Install Previous Dongle DLL
    /
  2. A dongle driver install routine will shortly start; allow it to install the update on your computer.
  3. After installing the above update try running the software.

If all of the above fails you will need to contact our support department.
